Tanacetum vulgare is a perennial herb native to Eurasia where it ranges from the British Isles to China and Japan; introduced in North America. It grows in moist disturbed sites, including abandoned fields and pastures; 10-1,600 m. Tansy has glabrous or sparsely hairy stems, finely divided compound leaves, and button-like flower heads produced in terminal clusters; ray florets are yellow. It flowers from July through September.
